Work Text:
Hero of My Heart
by Pirate Turner
Love me for who I am,
Or love me not at all.
I am but a man standing here before you,
Hero of all.
Unlike you, my love,
I am no hero.
My past is a dark one,
Full of tragedy and deceit,
That I fight every day to overcome.
I know not if I'll ever overcome my lineage
Or if I can truly change.
I only know that I love you
But that I am what I am.
Though cunning and powerful
In my own right,
I can never best you
Nor do I want to.
I only want to love you
And be loved by you,
So I wait here,
Standing before you,
Longing for an answer I fear
Will never leave your lips.
I stand before you,
A man, trying to be better for you,
Unknowing if I'll ever be able to,
Waiting for your love.
Will you grant me that
Or will you shun me
And lock me away in darkness,
Condemn me to the fate
Of those who have gone before me?
Only your love can change me, Clark,
But in the mean time, I need you
To love me now,
To love me for me.
Can you do that?
Will you save me,
Be the hero of my heart?
I wait, breathlessly,
For your answer.
The End
