Dismantling the dead Dalek in the Hub, Jack activates the Dalek's memory banks and accidently loads the lot into his own brain.  Having grown up in the 51st century he has a training interface enabling almost instant learning.  He learns that he is the Face of Boe.  With the trauma that he has already faced in his life this is enough to drive him insane.  Ianto is forced to pad one of the cells to keep Jack from continually killing himself.  He calls the Doctor in for help.
