Mine Is Empty
I get on the bus...
it is almost full
there is only one bench,
that has two seats on it
way in the back
that remain empty...
I take that bench
the bus is still not full
I sit there alone
every one around me
has their lover sitting next to them
hand in hand, heart to heart
my benches other seat is empty...
They all sit there, all around me
they are hand in hand
they are looking into each others eyes
they are heart to heart and
they are silent...
perhaps they're thinking of all their unreached goals
all their unlived dreams...
the sacrifices they made to be "in love"
I sit there and I look at them...
looking at each other
hand in hand
heart to heart
a tear forms in my eye
so I turn, and look thru the window,
I look at the city around me,
and all the people in the streets,
and the cars, and trucks
the shops that are in the buildings,
and then I look into the sky...
the sun warms my face as I do...
and then blinds me
yet I still see things
things I would never a seen
if I hadn't looked into the sun
I have to close my eyes
Later, when I open my eyes, once again able to see
I look round the bus
they are still looking into each others eyes,
they see nothing else but each other
they are all hand in hand
heart to heart
Now I know my life is the fullest!
and my broken heart can rest
I am happy to have the empty seat next to me...
at least I can put my bag's on it!
I get on the bus
it is full now...
they are all hand in hand
heart to heart
with their packages on their laps
