Summary: Bill's thoughts on the way Mulder treats his sister.

-----

I want to help her realize what he's doing to her, but if I do I risk her pushing me even
further away than she already has. She asked mom not to tell me she has cancer. She's
afraid to hear the truth from me. Afraid to admit to herself that he is the reason she's
acquired this disease. If it weren't for him needing her in his life and his personal quests,
Melissa wouldn't have been murdered, and Dana wouldn't have cancer. She's dying
because of Mulder.

I want to protect her. I see it clearly the way he's made her feel obligated to follow him.
She's pushed her family away. She's pushed her friends away. I see she's afraid to
disappoint him, afraid to have a life outside of work because Mulder expects her personal
goals to be the same as his personal goals.

He's weakening her. She'll stand up to me, no doubt, but when Mulder presents her with
wild ideas, she doesn't argue though I know she doesn't believe. She lets Mulder think for
her now. I hear his influences come from her mouth more often now than her own
opinions and ideas.

Whether he knows it or not, Mulder is abusing her. Not in a physical way, but
emotionally, and it's breaking my sister down, tearing us apart.

After I saw Dana in the hospital, I left her room and he was sitting there. He worries for
her, I'm sure he blames himself and he should, but if he really cared for her well-being,
wouldn't he have the sense to let her live her own life, stop asking her to drop everything
for him?

Standing before him, I want nothing but to be the older, immature, protective brother I
was in grade school, and pop him a good one right there. Of course I don't. The anger
builds up inside me, my heartache for my sister, and tears sting my eyes.

I cannot stomach the man. I wish I could help my sister, take her away from here, but I
can't. She's a grown woman now and should be able to make her own decisions.

I just hope she realizes sooner rather than later that this Mulder is no good for her and
that when she decides to follow her heart, and live her life and not his, that her family
will be there for her. We love her no matter how far away she pushes us out of her life.
