Nick didn't know what he wanted; he never had, and he had always been seeking protection, even from his own life, which he chose to lead.
He looked at Warrick, whom had just said goodbye to the club singer, and, again, he felt as though he knew his purpose. 'I'm playing cards with my friend' he had said. Well, if life was to be a game of cards - And if he got his strength for living this life from being there for his friends, then, that wasn't a bad purpose in life!
He tried to keep them as safe as they made him feel. Warrick had saved him from his stalker, as had Gil -And, Gil had saved him the first time he had had a gun pointed at him, too. His friends made him feel loved.
