Too Much Sorrow
A "Farscape" poem
Written by Alison M. DOBELL

"I look upon that dear beloved face
No room for me
Within that bare and haunted place
Those eyes that look with anger
Not relief
Those lips that so easily dismiss
My heart breaking void of her last kiss.

My whole word shatters in that look
What can I do?
Words will not erase the pain nor can undo
The loss that leaves her so bereft
My face a constant agony
A mask of death.

Worse than any parting is this living pain
Of seeing her so close
Ignored I remain
Powerless to help or intercede
Unable to give comfort
Or be what she needs.

I ache, I break, my pieces
Falling unremarked
Crumbling more with every day
I choose a path
That while it will not mend the break
Will seal my fate,
And end the hold my enemy
Has used as bait.

My crazy plan must succeed
Surprised I am that she will go with me
It does not bring much comfort
For there is no warmth
Not even friendship in her eyes
Her chill is worse.

Somehow my limbs manage to obey
My dying heart pushed to the limit
I lead the way
Scorpius is my destination
And my prey
Hopefully with him my death will bring
The peace I crave.

There is no more love
And no more hope
All that died with my twin to leave me stunned
All that I have lost she does not see
Nor know that my love for her
Will destroy me.

What does it matter now
The die is cast
Crais comes with his hybrid ship
His choice at last.
I feel hollow, no comfort and no pain
Just numb with too much sorrow, let this be the end..."
