Risk Assessment 2: Counting the Cost

Jim was lying in the arms of his lover. Wondering if it was where he wanted to be.
Commitment.
Jim was grateful his lover had asked him first before offering the ring to him.
Jim snorted. He had already ran once. Probably did not want to scare him away. Again.
Scared.
Yes. Detective James Ellison, ex-Ranger, Sentinel of the Great City was scared. Scared of that small word.
Commitment.
They would promise, no, swear before their friends to do their best and stay with each other through thick and thin, storm and calm. He knew his lover was already committed, he just wanted to know if Jim was.
Was he?
He looked at his sleeping lover.
"I love you", he whispered.
His lover opened his eyes.
"Hi."
"Hi. I ... I'd be honoured to carry your ring."
The glorious smile washed away his fears. For now.
