Summary: Major West leaves the Jupiter 2 to process his feelings, and
finds a new life.
Warnings: AU, WIP, angst, BDSM elements in future chapters
Notes: Sorry for the short chapter...but this took me by surprise, it
wasn't even the fandom I planned to start writing!
Don West knew what he felt for John Robinson wasn't right. He knew
that as part of the mission, he was expected to be with Judy. But
although she was very sexy, he found himself losing interest over
time. Her good looks were appealing, but...frankly, he needed more than
that. If she had any intelligence at all, she was excellent at hiding
it. Perhaps she thought that's what he wanted. Either way, it was
depressing and a definite turn-off.
The more time he spent with John, when they were away from the Jupiter
2 together on missions...the more unhappy and disgusted with himself he
became. Even if John were interested, he didn't want to hurt the
family. Nothing good could possibly come of this. He resolved to
brush his feelings aside and just go on with life, faking his way
through as best he could.

One day he just snapped. Don couldn't stand another day of pretending
interest in Judy's new hairstyle, and listening to Dr. Smith make up
excuses as to why he couldn't possibly help the family with the daily
chores. Why they continued to put up with that man was beyond Don's
understanding.
Without hearing or caring what was currently being said, Don stood up
abruptly and said simply, "I'm going for a walk. I'll be back later."
He grabbed a rifle and left.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked concernedly at Don.
Judy started to speak. "Don, would you like..."
He raised a hand and stopped her, looking very tired. "Please
Judy...just let me have some time alone. I just need time to think,
time to myself."
She nodded quietly and went inside.
_Thank God I didn't have to argue with her_, Don thought. _Then
again, maybe if we did argue once in awhile, things would be more
interesting._
He sighed and left. He felt bad for lying to the family; he didn't
plan to come back. They'd be fine without him.
