Synonymous
by Sandra Solaria Dees

Conrad Ecklie was an asshole. Everyone knew it, everyone thought so. Even David Hodges thought so, even as he was kissing Ecklie's ass.

That changed, though, like everything else after Nick's kidnapping. No longer was Ecklie a heartless jackass, he was a misunderstood jerk, in the words of Catherine Willows.

When the department had refused to pay Nicky's ransome, Canrad had tried to convince the sherriff otherwise, but to no luck. At the beginning of the whole ordeal, he'd pulled every one of his CSIs off dayshift cases and put them on Nicky's case.

And now, he was switching the teams up again, or rather, near to what they had been. Sophia and Sara had both requested a shift change after Grissom had said, "I want my guys back." and without a word, Ecklie switched the two girls with Warrick and Nicky, starting when Nicky returned from his two week medical leave.

Warrick took time off to be with Nick, and instead of complaining, Ecklie broke out the latex gloves and helped pick up the slack,
prompting from Gil, "I love it when you wear those gloves."

No, Conrad Ecklie wasn't an asshole; he just played one on tv.
