I have been drunk on fear,
alone and lost within a wilderness
                  of alleys,
      tenements,

                        and
      tears.
Now, blindly, I reach for you,
             blazing in the night,
                   crying,
      hungry --

      My heart on fire,
             my burning eyes closed tight
                   against
      denial.
      Dark angel, your warm touch
ignites the charred and weeping husk
                   of my
      beleaguered
      soul.
I seek annihilation in your kiss,
for in your arms each night
                   I flare and
      die,
      And every morning rise
             once more made new.
