I'm having trouble downloading some of the stories from the Archive? I seem to be missing part of it, especially the end. From: Virginia Call It is a *very* long story, and by the time you get to part three you may need to empty your computer cache. That or empty it before you start. There are different ways to do this, depending on your program. The 'cache' (which I've probably misspelled) is the temporary storage place on your hard drive that stores web pages. A lot of people don't realize that what they see on the web is actually a picture of a page that their computer asks for, receives and stores on *their* hard drive. If you web surf a lot, or go to places with a lot of graphics, it can fill up fast, depending on how much space you have told it to use for the purpose. When the cache is full, your computer can't write the copy of the web page on your hard drive, and you won't get the tail-end of things. Your computer *will not* use more space than what it has been told to use, even if you have an empty hard drive available. There is usually something in your browser options that tell the computer how many days to keep those temporary files, and a button you can use to erase them all immediately. If you keep bookmarks, then you should be fine. Also, my program will erase the temp files, but not the cookies. You'll have to check to see what yours does. I usually have mine flush out the temp file once a day, but on a busy day I may have to flush it out more often. Sorry if this sounds like a lecture, but it is not something that a lot of people know about until they get a full cache. And yes, if you share a computer or hard drive, and the other person knows about this, they can see exactly what you've been seeing on the web. Virginia
