'My offer was sincere,' she told me, and she meant it. When I thought
I'd deceived her I'd actually laughed in her face, but she meant it.

She humiliated me. I should have arrested her and her entire
sanctimonious crew. I didn't. Why didn't I?

It's been months since I let her go, but still she dominates my
thoughts. I remember her keen intelligence, the sparkle in her eye,
the scent of her palm. I've never met anyone like her.

I think sometimes about trying to find her again, but I won't. She
would laugh in my face.
