The BLTS Archive - Barriers by ILuvKate --- Kathryn Janeway was in no hurry as she strolled along the beach, heading toward a ring of rocks not too far away. She carried an insulated bag in one hand. It was filled with ice-cold beer and she was looking forward to a long, leisurely afternoon sitting in the sand, feeling the warm sun on her face, and the fresh salt breeze in her hair, and drinking ice cold Blumanian beer. The past few weeks had been hard and she was badly in need of a break. She had snagged a personal transportation device so she could beam herself back to the ship without having to expose her crew to what she certainly hoped was a drunk Captain. Chakotay alone knew what she was planning and she'd already turned the bridge over to him. When she reached the ring of rocks, she was surprised and briefly disappointed to see that someone had already appropriated it. B'Elanna Torres sat on the sand, leaning back against one of the sun-warm rocks. Stuck in the sand close by was a bottle of scotch, and what appeared to be a bucket of ice. She held a tumbler of amber liquid in one hand. Her uniform jacket and turtleneck lay discarded a couple of feet away with her boots. She had her head back and eyes closed, but sat up quickly as she heard Janeway's footsteps. "I'm sorry, B'Elanna. Didn't mean to disturb you," the captain apologized. "I didn't know anyone was here." Torres' eyes were slightly unfocused and Janeway guessed the glass didn't hold her first drink. " 's a'righ--" Torres stopped and cleared her throat. "It's all right, Captain," she tried again, attempting to speak clearly. Janeway grinned. "Looks like we both had the same idea," she said, holding up her bag and nodding toward Torres' bottle. "Great minds and all that." Torres' gaze was just the slightest bit bleary as she nodded. " 'huh," she said, then frowned, shaking her head slightly in the way of someone who is decidedly drunk, but trying not to show it. "Yes," she managed and this time Janeway laughed outright, deciding to go away and leave her Chief Engineer to get drunk in peace. "Well, have a good time," she said, turning away. "Wait." Torres said. " 'nough room. Stay." She waved around the ring. " 'long's you don' min'...," she gestured with her glass. "Of course not," Janeway said. "As long as you don't mind either," she added, gesturing with her bag. She sat down against a rock across from Torres with a sigh of contentment, leaning back against the rock and closing her eyes. Torres seemed to withdraw back into whatever private reverie she'd been in when Janeway arrived, draining the glass she held and closing her eyes again. They sat in companionable silence, each relaxing and letting the cares of the past week drain away. After a few minutes, Janeway opened her bag and rummaged for one of the icy bottles. She snapped off the cap and stuck it in the bag and closed the bag. She took a long, satisfying pull of the the golden brew, and settled back against her rock. She eyed B'Elanna who looked cool and relaxed in her undershirt and uniform trousers. She briefly considered stripping down to that, too, and then reflected that perhaps she'd better just remove her jacket and boots. She sighed. Sometimes being the captain was tiresome. But most of the time it wasn't. She should be used to the restrictions by now. She tossed her jacket aside and tugged off her boots. Then she took another long drink and settled back again. She felt eyes on her and glanced over at B'Elanna who was staring at her. "Th' cap'n thing?" B'Elanna said cryptically. Janeway looked at her quizzically and she grimaced. "Take th' dam' shirt off if you want to," she clarified. "Don'care." She put her head back again and closed her eyes as Janeway shook with laughter. Oh, to hell with it. She pulled the turtleneck off and threw it on top of her jacket. She drained the rest of her beer and opened the bag for another. She always liked to kill the first bottle and then take her time with the rest when she planned to get plastered. She drank from the second bottle and stared out over the ocean that reminded her so much of home. Wispy white clouds drifted in the sky and the warm gold of the sun felt good on her skin as the gentle breeze riffled her hair. She reached up to unclasp the barrette holding it and tossed it on top of her clothes. Idly, she watched B'Elanna drop some ice in her glass and pour it full of scotch. She admired B'Elanna's fluid grace and the way the muscles in her strong, slender arms rippled as she moved. B'Elanna raised the glass to her lips and drained half of it at once. Janeway winced. Doing that would've taken the top of her head off. B'Elanna might have been drinking water. She tried to think if she'd ever been around a drunk Klingon. Well, yeah, there'd been that senior cadet at the CommSignal, a real dive that Academy cadets had liked to frequent. It had been a long, tough week of classes, tests, and simulations, and the cadets were ready to kick over the traces. Zargh, the Klingon, had gotten absolutely roaring drunk and it had taken six Shore Patrols to subdue him when he tried to start a fight. She opened her eyes, raising her bottle to her lips, and saw B'Elanna staring at her. She finished the beer and retrieved another one. B'Elanna had dropped her gaze and was contemplating her nearly empty glass. "Penny," B'Elanna said suddenly. Janeway smiled. She could decipher that one. "I was just wondering," she said candidly, "if I'd ever been around a drunk Klingon before, and was remembering a fellow cadet in a bar fight once." "Not to worry," B'Elanna said. "I'm not," Janeway replied simply. B'Elanna threw back the rest of the scotch in her glass, and then fixed another drink. Janeway noted the level of the whiskey in the bottle and saw the curl of paper that had been the seal lying in the sand. I'd be comatose drinking that much that fast, she reflected. She took another long, cold drink from her bottle. "Yer a dam' good-lookin' woman, KJ, y'know that?" B'Elanna's astonishing words made her open her eyes and sit up in surprise, and at the same time, B'Elanna realized what she'd said, and to whom, as her brain suddenly engaged, and her face flooded dark red. "My God," she muttered in an agony of embarrassment, "I'm sorry, Captain. I--" Janeway waved a dismissive hand. "Oh, forget it," she said casually. "And thanks for the compliment. So are you, by the way." B'Elanna, still mortified, ducked her head, nodding just once in acknowledgement of Janeway's words. Janeway drank her beer and settled back against her rock. Her shoulders shook slightly. KJ! She chuckled again as she sucked on her beer, feeling the rush of the alcohol in her blood. Ah, that first loose, warm wave of relaxation as the beer takes effect, unknotting tension, draining away cares and inhibitions. She heard the clink of glass on glass and knew B'Elanna was pouring more scotch. She grinned to herself. B'Elanna should be about as loose as a goose right now. Maybe as loose as a whole gaggle, come to think of it. She thought about what B'Elanna had said, and her own reply, and wondered lazily what lay behind B'Elanna's remark. Booze had a way of knocking down barriers, and no doubt the scotch B'Elanna had imbibed had scattered several. As a matter of fact, the beers she'd drunk were having their own effect on her. Her mind roamed, and unbidden, an image of B'Elanna naked and lying on a bed came to her mind. She took a hasty long pull of her beer, feeling it rush to her head, and she shifted her position on the sand. Damn. Where had *that* come from? All of a sudden she felt a wave of arousal rush through her and she felt sweat evaporate on her brow. She frowned at the bottle in her hand. She didn't remember drinking beer making her horny. She shifted again. Yes, that's what she was. Dammit. And here she was, on the beach, in an undershirt, barefoot, with her similarly attired Chief Engineer who was, now that she thought about it, quite beautiful indeed. Ye Gods! She was treading on dangerous ground here! She stifled an irrational urge to suddenly remove her uniform trousers. She scowled again at the treacherous bottle in her hand and then against all sense, drained it. Her head spun for a few seconds and then the world stabilized. " 's a' matter?" came B'Elanna's query, and Janeway jerked back to reality. It was her turn to stare with unfocused gaze at B'Elanna and Janeway saw a grin ghost across her face. "Beer'll getcha, won' it?" she said. Janeway grinned back ruefully. "Guess," she said, reflecting that her speech had become as monosyllabic as B'Elanna's was earlier. She fumbled in her bag for another beer. That's smart, *KJ* More of snake that's biting you. Shit. "Y'know what I feel like doin'?" B'Elanna asked. Janeway gulped. No, she didn't, as a matter of fact, and was afraid to ask. But B'Elanna told her anyway. "Wanna take off all my clo'es and dance all over th' beach." Janeway took a huge swallow of beer, managing not to choke on it. "Uh," was all she could get out. B'Elanna threw back her head and laughed. "Don' worry," she slurred. "Not goin' to." She took a long pull of the stuff in her glass. "Oh, damn." Janeway heard her response with astonishment. What on earth...? B'Elanna stared at her inquiringly. "On th' odder--other--han',..." she said thoughtfully, holding Janeway's gaze with her own, "migh' be fun..." She set her glass down carefully and rose to her knees. As Janeway watched, unable to move, she pulled the undershirt off over her head. Janeway swallowed at the sight of full breasts spilling over the cups of a bra. B'Elanna stared at Janeway for several long seconds. "Wanna do the honors?" she invited suddenly, holding her arms wide. Janeway raised her bottle to her lips and chugged beer, feeling it whiz straight to her brain, and tossed the bottle aside. On her knees, she moved the short distance separating her and B'Elanna until they were only inches apart. She reached out and put two fingers inside the waistband of B'Elanna's trousers, tugging gently. B'Elanna waited. Janeway unzipped the trousers and pushed them down over B'Elanna's hips. She placed her hands on B'Elanna's hips and heard B'Elanna's sharply indrawn breath. She reached up and unhooked B'Elanna's bra and let warm firm flesh fill her hands. "Ahh," B'Elanna breathed, still waiting. Kathryn thumbed the nipples, soft under her touch at first, hardening quickly. Kathryn brushed their tips lightly with the balls of her thumbs and B'Elanna shivered, swallowing hard. Janeway saw the faint sheen of sweat in her forehead ridges. "Lie back," she whispered. B'Elanna lay back on the sand, stretching her legs out, and Kathryn drew her trousers off. Spreading her legs apart, Kathryn moved up to kneel between them. She placed her hand on B'Elanna's sex, feeling the wet heat through the panties. Then she moved her fingers up to just above B'Elanna's pubic hair and pressed. "Ahh, oh, God, I gotta pee!" B'Elanna groaned. Kathryn grinned wickedly. "Yes," she said softly, "but you're going to lie right there." She began to massage and B'Elanna gasped. "Oh, God. Don'ttt!" she begged. "Shh. Be still," Kathryn ordered her, massaging harder. The pressure of B'Elanna's painfully full bladder was causing, in its turn, her also painful clit to be stimulated and she felt the beginnings of orgasm stir. Kathryn pressed downward, massaging, and B'Elanna groaned, deep in her throat. At last, Kathryn took pity on her and moving up a little, slid her hand inside B'Elanna's panties, and then inside B'Elanna, and massaged until B'Elanna came. Kathryn watch the pleasure ripple like waves across the younger woman's face and body. B'Elanna seemed to have forgotten her earlier need, because she suddenly put Kathryn on her back, pinning her hands. Slowly she lowered her mouth to Kathryn's and kissed her, tasting the beer on her lips and tongue. Kathryn strained against B'Elanna's imprisoning grasp, capturing her mouth, tasting her as her tongue slid over B'Elanna's. They savored each other, exploring slowly and sensuously. B'Elanna still had her pinned and she tried uselessly to free herself. B'Elanna smiled down at her, her face flushed, her lips swollen from the kiss. With a deft movement, she had both Kathryn's hands captured in one of hers, but Kathryn was still unable to get loose. B'Elanna lay down on her side next to Kathryn and unzipped Kathryn's trousers. She worked her way inside Kathryn's panties to the throbbing heat between her legs. "I'm going to let you go," B'Elanna whispered, "and what I want you to do is take your clothes off. Don't get up." She released Kathryn's hands and Kathryn reached down, still on her back, and pulled off her trousers. Then she pulled off the undershirt. "Turn over," B'Elanna said, before she could reach up to unhook her bra. Kathryn complied. She felt B'Elanna unsnap her bra and push the straps off her shoulders B'Elanna pulled it out from under her and tossed it aside. She slid her hand down and into Kathryn's panties, fondling her bottom. Kathryn moved restlessly. "Take them off," B'Elanna said. It was awkward, trying to remove panties from her position, but she managed to push them down to her knees. B'Elanna drew them the rest of the way off. "Turn back over," B'Elanna said. As soon as she was on her back, B'Elanna's mouth was covering her breasts, sucking the nipples to stiff points. Without further delay, she moved down, turning her body so that her mouth was at Kathryn's sex. Kathryn seized the opportunity of their positions and they went at each other simultaneously, devouring, tongues going hard at engorged clits. Neither let the bucking spasms of orgasms interrupt and continued their assault. At length, they rolled off each other and lay spent. Kathryn sat up and moved up to hold B'Elanna, who settled eagerly into her embrace. "My high's wearing off," B'Elanna murmured a few minutes later. "I need another drink." Kathryn was stroking her back and lifted her head to peer at B'Elanna's bottle. "Have you got enough booze left?" she asked. B'Elanna frowned quizzically. "For what?" she asked. "To get drunk again," Kathryn replied. B'Elanna snorted a laugh. "I didn't bring just one bottle with me," she said. Kathryn laughed. "I should've known," she said. They sat up, reaching for clothes and dressed. Kathryn retrieved her bag and moved over to sit beside B'Elanna. She felt her own buzz fading and took out another beer. They drank in silence, enjoying each other's closeness, hands loosely clasped as they lounged against rocks warm from the sun. The ocean lapped the edge of the sand in gentle waves as the freshening breeze swirled around them, tempering the heat of the sun. Kathryn drew B'Elanna into her embrace and they kissed. The afternoon passed in a contented blur of scotch, beer, kisses and caresses. Neither had put her bra back on, so the only obstacle to roving hands was an undershirt that was easily moved aside. By the time the planet's sun had lowered itself into the gold-splashed ocean, they were both pleasantly drunk and sated. They talked, joked, and told stories. Darkness was beginning to fall when Kathryn's commbadge chirped. Chakotay had said he would check in just once when it got dark, just to make sure all was well. She got up to answer his hail and assured him of her well-being. He signed off and she moved back over to B'Elanna who was finishing her second bottle of scotch. Kathryn was on her last beer. Kathryn kissed her deeply and wetly. "MMmmm. Damn, I could kiss you all night," she murmured against her lover's mouth. "What's stopping you?" B'Elanna drawled lazily. "Not me." "Not a thing," Kathryn agreed. "Just wondering if the bed in my quarters would be more comfortable." B'Elanna was lying back in her arms, eyes closed. She shrugged. "Wherever," she mumbled. Kathryn smiled down at her. "Then I vote for the bed," she said. "As romantic as this is, I can take only so much sand. I've got a PTD. Sit tight." She eased her drowsy Chief Engineer against a rock and went over to get her stuff. B'Elanna roused herself enough to gather her own things in turn. They stood as Kathryn keyed the PTD to send them to her quarters. In her quarters, they undressed and took a long, leisurely shower and then fell into bed, curled up together, and drifted off into sleep. --- Copyright 1997 ILuvKate --- The End
