Comment:  Inspired by the 1 AM episode of the Trek Marathon.  That is
one *fine* dress . . .

DISCLAIMER:  Claire Kendall is my own creation.  The Vulcan one is
the property of Paramount.  I'm just borrowing him so Claire will
have someone to play with.  Paramount can have him back when they're
done, safe and sound.

Spock stopped in his tracks.  "Your dress--"

"It's new," Claire said, looking down at herself with a pleased
expression.

The style was nearly identical.  The bold, swirling design was blue,
not black, and the pattern was different, but still, the similarity
was remarkable.  Memory returned in a rush.

"What's wrong?"  Beginnings of dismay.  "You hate it, don't you."

He swallowed.  "No."  He stepped closer, lifted paired fingers to
stroke her bared shoulder.  "You look beautiful in it."  *As had she.*

Claire smiled.  "Glad you appreciate it."

"Please believe me.  I *do* appreciate it," he said.  And betrayed
*her* once again.
