The BLTS Archive- Transitions by Joanne Collins (luchenbackoutlaw@gmail.com) --- Disclaimer:  Beverly, Julian and anything else Trek belong to Paramount. The story is mine. Intro:  Beverly/Julian...  Well, being me, could I possibly resist Sophie's challenge?  Besides, I adore both of those characters.  So, welcome to my first completely non-Voyager Trek story, my first story with Beverly or Julian, and my second m/f story.  This story takes place during the second season of TNG.  And if the bar sounds familiar?  It's *meant* to.  And this does *not* take place in the same universe as my story Shameless.  Okay? All clear?  Good. This story contains reasonably explicit but very consensual m/f sex between Beverly and Julian. This story may be distributed on the BLTS list, and archived only on the ASC archive and Sophie's page.  No downloading or printing for other than personal use, this includes sharing with like-minded friends, and no other distribution without my express permission. --- Julian Bashir paused at the door of the bar.  As usual, he gave everyone a quick once-over.  Hmmm...the blonde man in the booth looked promising... "Damn!"  Julian spoke aloud, as another equally attractive man joined the blonde, taking one of the blonde's hands in his. "No use crying over lost opportunities," the bartender observed. Julian turned to smile at the attractive blonde woman.   "Sandrine, how are you?" "I am fine, mon cheri.  And you?" "Well...I would have liked the chance to get to know that attractive young man better." "Ah, Thomas and James see no one but each other when they are together, cheri.  It is vrai amour...true love." "I envy them even more, then." "Don't we all?"  came a new voice, which Julian identified as "feminine and *very* sexy". "Good evening, Doctor." "Good evening, Sandrine." Julian looked to his left, and almost fell off his stool.  She was *stunning*.  Tall, with shoulder-length red hair, blue eyes, and an unconventional beauty that was almost as intoxicating as the real whisky he was drinking.  A little older than he...okay, several years, but that didn't matter. He hadn't seen anyone as lovely as this woman in months. He realised that she was speaking. "I'm Doctor Beverly Crusher." Crusher?  That name was vaguely familiar to Julian.  He took a moment, allowing his eidetic memory to recall.... "The CMO of the USS Enterprise?" "Not any more. I'm taking a short vacation here in France before taking over the job of Head Of Starfleet Medical.  Things on the Enterprise...didn't work out," she looked a little sad. Julian spoke, wanting to smooth over the slight awkwardness. "I'm Julian Bashir.  Fourth year medical student." "And what are you doing here in Marseilles?" "One day leave.  I have to go back to San Francisco tomorrow." "And I start teaching then.  You'll probably be one of my students...." "But," Julian paused meaningfully, "I'm not one of your students... yet," looking deeply into Beverly's eyes.   She responded by looking equally as deeply into Julian's deep brown eyes, "And there are no *actual* rules preventing us from acting on what we feel right now, are there?" "None that I know of," replied Julian, "Would you like a drink, Doctor?" "Beverly.  And I'd love a glass of wine." "Sandrine, two glasses of Chablis, s'il vous plait." "Oui, Julian.  Will you stay at the bar, or take a table?" Julian looked inquiringly at his companion. "Table," she said, not so firmly that he couldn't have changed her mind, but that was his preference too.  He moved off the stool, and helped her off hers, touching her for the first time.  It was a simple clasp of her elbow, but a spark flared between them. "Gods," Julian whispered, just loud enough for her to hear. Beverly was as suprised as Julian that the simple touch had caused such a reaction.  Her nipples began to harden, and she could feel dampness starting to form between her legs.  Even Jean-Luc had never caused such a reaction with so simple a touch...but she wasn't going to think about him. If he chose not to act on the feelings she knew they shared, then she and he would have to move on with their lives separately.  It was not her first choice, but if it was the choice she must make, she would live with it.  And so would Jean-Luc.  But it was better that they do it apart, so when this position had become available, she had jumped at the chance.  It was also nice to be back on Earth, although she missed Wesley, Deanna, and the rest of the Enterprise crew.  But she'd made a few friendly acquaintances here at Sandrine's.  And perhaps this new acquaintance would become more... Before she knew it, they were sitting at a table.  Julian had accepted their drinks from Sandrine, and was asking her about some of the more exotic cases she had encountered on the Enterprise.  She'd just finished an explanation of the Psi 2000 virus, explaining the lack of inhibitions that it caused, and Julian had teasingly said that he would have liked to have been there.   Changing the subject, Beverly asked Julian what he would like to specialise in, and he told her of his dreams of "frontier medicine", being out on the fringes of known space, somewhere where there wouldn't be "Federation assistance at the touch of a padd", and had to agree, it sounded like fun, the way Julian saw it.  She decided not to bring him down with descriptions of what it was *really* like "out there", what it was like when you had only enough serum to save four people, when there were eight suffering from the disease, what it was like to know that you could do something if only you had the right compound, which would be available "at the touch of a padd" closer to Federation space.  Time enough for that later, Julian's youthful enthusiasm was rather...intoxicating, Beverly thought, sipping her wine. Julian was talking, not really saying anything profound, just filling the silence.  The bar began to empty, the two young men Julian had noticed earlier being among the first to leave. Beverly decided that if she didn't ask the question that was nagging at her now, she never would. "Julian, why did you offer to buy me a drink?"  with the question of whether there was more to it remaining unspoken. "Because you are the most beautiful creature I have seen in months. There was a man here earlier, who if he had been alone, I may have made the same offer to, I don't discriminate on the basis of gender if I find the other person attractive, but I still would have noticed you, Beverly." "But Julian, I'm almost old enough to be your mother." "I also don't discriminate on the basis of age.  Beverly, we both know that you could never have approached me, but as I made the initial move, whatever happens is something that we *both* want.  Isn't that what's important?" and he clasped one of her hands in his, liking the paleness of her ivory skin next to his caramel-coloured pigmentation. "I just don't know.  I find you attractive, Julian, but is that all there is?" "Is there...someone else?" "No.  Not exactly." "What is it...exactly?" "There's an attraction there, but for many reasons, we can't act on it." 'Must be a superior officer...I wonder if it's Will Riker,' Julian mused. Aloud he said, "Well, there's no reason for us not to act on what we're feeling, is there, Beverly?" "I don't just want to...fall into bed with you Julian.  I've really been enjoying getting to know you." "So have I," Julian smiled, "And I hope that I don't just want to fall into bed with you.  Where are you staying?" "I have a room upstairs.  And you?" Julian looked concerned for a moment, he *really* didn't want Beverly to take his next words the wrong way. "I was planning to find somewhere to stay after having a drink here. I stayed...and there are no vacant rooms here, I asked Sandrine." "Julian, you could always stay in my room," she faltered a little on the last word, knowing what would happen if that was the case. "Beverly, I truly didn't plan this.  You do believe me, don't you?  I could sleep on the couch down here..." "Yes, you could.  But I don't want you to." Julian stopped fighting it.  It was going to happen. He wanted it, she wanted it.  There could be more to it than that, but that was enough for now.  More than enough. "Would you like to dance?"  he asked, indicating the music program on the computer. She smiled, a little oddly, and said, "I'd love to." Julian programmed some slow songs into the computer, Elton John, Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, the singers his mother had often played for him when he was growing up. He stood and offered his hand to Beverly, who took it eagerly.  It had been a long time, and she suspected that Julian would be an able partner, if not more. She was right.  Julian moved fluidly with the music, matching his steps to hers perfectly, even when she tried a few of the lesser-known variations. Then he took her into his arms, moulding their bodies together.  She gasped as his erection came into contact with her hip, and he gasped too. "Julian, shall we go upstairs?"  The words were formal, but the expression in her eyes promised much more. He didn't answer in words, he just scooped her up into his arms, making his way to the stairs.  Sandrine smiled after them, calling out "Bonne nuit." Julian hesitated at the top of the stairs.  "Which direction?" "Left," she whispered between kisses to his neck. There were only two rooms on the upper level of the tavern, so Julian didn't need to ask anything more. Beverly opened the door, as Julian's hands were occupied with her hair and keeping her in his arms.  The lights came on automatically, low, but not so low that it was difficult to see.  Julian finally let Beverly slide down his body to the floor, only because he needed both hands to undress her. He fumbled a little over the unfamiliar buttons of her blouse, probably due to both the wine and the intense desire moving through his body. He managed to remove it, kissing her deeply, moving his lips over her pale skin, which was becoming flushed with desire.  He reached the lacy edge of her bra, fumbling with the clasp, then removing it. He took one breast into his mouth, teasing the nipple to hardness with his tongue, cupping the other in his hand, loving the response he was getting from her.   Beverly enjoyed the sensations Julian's hands and mouth were creating in her, but she needed more. She managed to remove Julian's shirt, and began exploring his slim, muscular torso.  The springy curls of chest hair created a delicious contrast to his smooth skin, and she searched through them with her fingers, finding his small, tight nipples, rolling them between her fingers, then finally slipping out of his grasp, moving to take one into her mouth.  Julian almost screamed at the experienced touch of her tongue, and Beverly smiled against his chest.  Jack had been like this too...then all thoughts of anyone other than Julian flew from her mind as he gently pulled back from her, and removed the remainder of both their clothes.  She gasped at the sight of him naked, he was so beautiful. She had never seen another man as beautiful.  Jack had been handsome, and the love of her life, but still, Julian was exquisite.  It wasn't his youth, she suspected that Julian would be beautiful all his life, but that certainly didn't hurt. And when he moved toward her...gods, the way his flesh moved was like nothing she'd seen before.  The defined muscles, the soft curves, the hard angles, the caramel skin, and it was all hers, for as long as she was granted the privilege of having this beautiful young man. Julian's thoughts were running in a similar direction.  Beverly was beautiful, all that gorgeous creamy skin, the womanly curves, the damp red curls between her legs...gods, he'd never seen anyone as beautiful.  And he had had his share of lovers, both male and female, but none of them had caused such burning desire in him. It was Beverly herself, not the sum of her body parts that was causing this, he realised, Beverly who he needed, now, and for as long as they had together.  He knew, even now, that it wasn't going to last forever, and he couldn't even regret that, yet. He gently lay her down among the comfortable pillows and covers of the bed, kissing everywhere he could reach.  Her neck, her breasts, lower on her stomach, her navel, causing a gasp of pleasure, and the muscles in her stomach to tense in pleasure, then he moved lower still, licking and kissing her creamy pale thighs, then finally moving to between them.  He separated her lips gently with his tongue, running up and down them gently, feeling her wetness gushing out of her centre.  Then he found her clitoris with his tongue, causing her to moan and thrash her hips in ecstacy.  He moved off the sensitive flesh, tasting her juices, then moving back to the sensitive nub of flesh once more. He replaced his tongue with two fingers, moving gently into and out of her, increasing the rhythm and depth of his thrusts as she angled her hips up to increase the pressure of his lips, tongue and fingers.  He moved harder and faster as she did, and before long, she came, with a cry of ecstacy. Julian gently moved back, after cleaning her juices from her lips and the now-soaked curls, moving up her body, taking her into his arms. He looked at her, flushed and beautiful, feeling her warmth, and the last of the orgasmic shudders running through her body. "So beautiful," he whispered, kissing her gently, letting her taste herself on his lips. "Julian...that was...I've never felt like this before." "Neither have I.  Ohhhh..." he moaned, deep in his throat, as she started hesitantly exploring his body, moving down lightly with one hand, caressing his hair with the other, causing him to moan more loudly as she found his aching hardness. "Please, Julian, make love to me. I want you inside me, I want to feel everything you are, and I want you to feel everything I am," she whispered. He moved, slowly and carefully over her, kissing her gently, pausing, briefly before he slowly thrust into her, just a few inches, then moving more deeply, thrusting slowly and shallowly, until she grasped his hips, angling her hips in alignment with his, and thrust upwards as he thrust down.  He almost screamed at the feeling of her clenching around him, so tight and hot. He continued thrusting into her, moving faster and faster, she was moving to meet his thrusts, until he exploded deep inside her, screaming as her second orgasm triggered his. Julian moved out of her, pulling her into his arms. "Julian, we have to talk," she began. "I know.  You don't want to see me socially at the Academy.  I can accept that." "No, Julian, I *do*.  There are no rules against us seeing each other." "Nothing written," he said, still not looking at her. "Julian, you can take your exams from other instructors.  You can take all your classes from other instructors if you like.  Unless," her voice faltered, "You don't *want* to see me." "Beverly, I want to be with you for as long as you want me. We both know that this isn't forever, don't we?" "You never know..." "Well, that it's not *likely* that it's forever, then?" "Probably not.  But I'd hate to cut myself off from the possibility..." "So would I.  So, how do we handle this?  Do we tell people up front, or let them find out gradually?" "I like the second option better.  Makes it less of a big production number, telling everyone at once would mean putting it out on the bulletin boards, or announcing it vocally on the computer.  And that would make it appear that we thought more of our...relationship than that it was perfectly natural." "Good point," he kissed her nose, gently, and they drifted off to sleep, wrapped around each other. Over the course of the next year, although they encountered a few people who disapproved, their relationship blossomed and grew. Julian was on the verge of considering a more permanent arrangement, when Beverly told him that she'd been in contact with the Enterprise, or, more precisely, with Captain Jean-Luc Picard. She'd told him months ago that he was the superior officer who she had shared a mutual attraction for, and Julian wasn't surprised that they'd been in contact.  Beverly continued talking, though.   Apparently they had talked through their differences, and Picard wanted her to return to the Enterprise...and to him. He wanted her to marry him. Julian was happy for Beverly, this was what she had wanted for many years. And he had known that this was possible from the beginning. Oh, it hurt, a little, and Beverly said that if things had been different, maybe... So, Beverly returned to the USS Enterprise, and married Captain Picard a year later.  Julian attended the wedding, flirting outrageously with every single, unattached officer on the ship, determined not to dwell on what might have been. Three years later, Julian completed his medical degree, graduating second in his class, because he mistook a pre-ganglionic fibre for a post-ganglionic nerve during his final examination.  As he was so highly placed, he almost had his choice of post-graduate assignments, and chose what he wanted most, "frontier medicine", the post of CMO on Federation Station Deep Space Nine. Then one day, soon after his arrival on the station, a Cardassian named Elim Garak joined him for lunch... --- The End
