Work doesn't keep one warm at night, and research won't listen to your personal problems. At least her brother let her indulge herself when she got home. Bejal understood her needs. She knew he wanted her to carry on with her life, to find another to fall in love with so deeply it hurt. Right now, no. She still couldn't give up the past that easily. He kept her secret from the Symbiosis Commission, knowing only time could heal what wounds she suffered. The Commission would take away her symbiote if she were found out, killing her. She knew she'd be considered an unfit host, but she just needed some time to let go, to chase away the ghosts that haunted her.
