Kira had never understood why Dax saw fit to associate with Quark. Perhaps it was out of a sense of charity. None of the other officers trusted him enough to have any more contact with him than they had to. But, as the game ended, Dax was laughing, and so was Quark ( having won ). You're not jealous of the attention she gives him, are you, Nerys, she asked herself. She shook the question away. At least Jadzia was back to her old self. The Defiant had returned from it's engine tests, having become a slightly more deadly vessel ... faster, more maneuverable, more powerful. The difference might be hard to notice, but it was there ... and her warrior's instincts told her every little bit helped. "Kira, are you going to sit there all night, or are we going? " the Trill was asking, as she sat down in the chair opposite the Bajoran Major. "I lost a bundle, all right." she said, counting the strips of latinum she had managed to retain. "In the name of the Prophets, I don't understand why you tolerate that little Ferengi. He was probably cheating." Kira said, and then took a sip of the colorful drink in her hand. "Oh, don't be ridiculous. If he was cheating, I would have caught him. I was playing this game before his grandfather learned to walk." Dax grinned. "And anyway, I still have enough to pay for the trip I promised you." She lowered her head slightly, and looked into Kira's eyes. Nerys thought about the promise Dax had made, to pay her back for comforting her after the episode in the Delta quadrant. A trip to one of the most romantic spots in the system, the waterfalls on the second moon. Well, it *would* be fun. But what was this leading to? What had happened between them, the tenderness and passion of that night ... Kira had assumed it was a momentary thing, and Dax would go back to her Klingon husband, and it would be forgotten. The character of this trip seemed to suggest that Jadzia had set other plans in motion. "Jadzia, I ... " "What are you worried about? " Dax put her elbows on the table and rested her chin in her hands, listening intently for Kiras' response. "I just don't know if it's a good idea ... " Nerys started, then felt unable to continue. She was yet again unable to formulate words for Jadzia to hear. I hope this doesn't start to affect my work, Kira thought. Jadzia mulled that over for a moment, wondering if Kira really wasn't interested in a more ... intimate relationship. That's not what her eyes tell me ... that's not what her body language tells me. She's afraid ... but of what? "Nerys ... " she began slowly, almost motherly " If you don't *want* to, that's fine I'll understand. I know this kind of thing isn't what you're used to. But I think you *do* want to ... and I know I do." She smiled. "There's nothing to worry about. Worf doesn't mind, you know that. And we're both mature enough to handle everything else." She reached out and took Kiras' hand in her own. It was warm, compared to her hands, and soft, and she felt a little squeeze. Kiras' voice was softer now. "It's just that, you know how I feel about you .. and I just don't want anything to come between us. I don't know, if I get too ... attached ... what if I start getting jealous? What if it doesn't work out ... what if... " "Nerys, it's just a romantic trip." Dax said, her voice lowered as well. " I'm not asking you to fight Worf for my hand ... I just want to be with you, off the station ... to spend some time together." They looked at each other, and Kira quickly began to forget her doubts. "Okay ... I'm ready." "Good! " the Trill stood, and they walked out, headed for the shuttle docks, and Kira laughed softly to herself at how silly she was being. It was just taking their relationship to a different level, after all ... she wasn't really in *love* with Dax. They were just .. enjoying each others' company. --- The runabout separated from the docking ring, turned a hundred and eighty degrees, pitched up, and the engines fired, sending it hurtling from the station at half impulse. As they cleared the stations' navigation area, Jadzia pushed the shuttle up to full impulse, and set it's course for the second moon of Bajor. Kira was leaning back in her chair, eyes closed, trying to relax. "So what do you want to do first? Picnic or exploring? Quark made us quite a banquet ... " "I know, I can smell it from here ... what is it? " "Human food. Apparently he bought a new supply of replicator files from Earth ... glad the Federation is sticking around, I guess. When I asked him what it was, he only said, 'you'll love it, trust me' and said to make sure we had these ..." she held up two sets of long wooden sticks. "Apparently we're supposed to use these to eat with, but damned if I can figure out how ... " Jadzia laughed, the warm laugh that made people's hearts beat faster. Kira was no exception. "Great .... " Nerys said, as the odor of the waiting banquet tortured her. "Well, in the resistance we got used to eating with our hands. No sense carrying utensils around, it's just extra weight." Jadzia wondered about that. Kira had told her stories about life in the resistance, but always they were about a particular person, or a particular battle, never observations about the whole ... possibly, Dax thought, because the whole was too much to think about. Benjamin, once, had misquoted to Curzon a general from Earth "War is hell." Curzon had know the actual quote and it's origin, better than the brash young Lieutenant Sisko, but had not corrected him because it was good such a young man to have gotten the point of the reference. And the point was what really mattered. It was a point Kira would undoubtedly have agreed with. Dax had seen enough war to know as well. "We're here ... settling into geosynchronous orbit." Jadzia was manipulating the runabout's controls, and the blue-green moon lay off to their right. "Ready to beam down? " she looked at Kira "That was quick. Ready ... if you are." Nerys looked at Jadzia sheepishly. The butterflies in her stomach were unusual. She hadn't even been this nervous the first time she had gone into combat. Why now? It's not like she hadn't already been intimate with Dax. Or with another woman, for that matter. That had been a long time ago, when she was barely an adult ... when she was in the resistance. You didn't really worry about things like sex when people were constantly trying to kill you. Sex just happened ... it was a release from the ever-present boredom and momentary horror of wartime life. You just found someone not doing anything and said something, well, direct, and that was that. No questions, no emotional attachment ... usually it had been men. Once or twice, women. But afterwards, nothing was said, no promises made, no bond forged. And several times those partners of convenience died soon after ... and she had felt no more loss than when any of her other comrades had fallen. "Then lets' go. I've picked a spot. I think you'll like it. And there's nobody there, I scanned." Jadzia was getting up from her chair, collecting the food container, and other various bags ... containing what, Kira asked herself. What other surprises does she have for me. Before she knew it, Jadzia had set them down again and was in front of her, taking her hand, and looking her in the eye. "Nerys, please tell me you're not going to be difficult ... I just want to give you a nice afternoon, away from work, away from the station." Jadzia said, almost desperately. "No strings attached, okay? I promise." That was too much. Nerys felt ashamed now, ridiculous for being so childishly reticent about the whole ... affair. Jadzia obviously meant that if Nerys wanted, they would just have lunch and that was all. That made her chuckle. She leaned slightly forward and kissed Jadzia softly on her lips. "I know, and I'm okay ... and I'll be the one to tell you if there are no strings attached." Jadzia, newly encouraged, got that smile which had to come from the young, vibrant host and not the symbiont. She picked the packages back up, and the two women stepped onto the transporter pad. "Energize." --- They materialized in a grassy area next to a stream, between cliffs on one side and hills on the other. From atop the cliffs cascaded a steady torrent of sparkling blue-white foam. It is beautiful, Nerys thought, as she stood, momentarily carefree. As the slight breeze shifted, she could feel the spray from the waterfall on her face, its tiny cool fingers caressing her. She closed her eyes, and outstretched her arms, as if to take the scene and embrace it, and then draw it into her so that she could keep it forever. When she opened her eyes again, Dax had laid a blanket out on the grass and was setting the food out, carefully arranging the small containers in the center. "Now, what is this again? " Kira asked as she lowered herself, cross-legged, onto the blanket. "Quark only said that it was 'Chinese' ... I've never been there, so I wouldn't really know ... San Francisco is a long was from China." which, in their time, wasn't really true, but whenever she went to Earth she was always so *busy* with something or other. Time is part of distance, some physicists would say. Dax knew that to be true. "Well, I'll give it a shot ... " Nerys kicked off her shoes, and laid down across the blanket as Jadzia, after several valiant attempts to use the sticks that Quark had provided, had resorted to doling the food onto the plates with her fingers. "You're getting into the habit of trying new things, aren't you? " the Trill teased, as she handed Kiras' plate to her. The Bajorans' face was reddened as she took the food, and set it in front of her. "If you keep teasing me like that, I'll toss you into the water. And ... " Kira paused, then decided to go ahead and say it. " And anyway, it wasn't exactly new ... I mean that I'd been with a woman before ... nobody I really cared about, so I guess that was different." Jadzias' face softened, knowing that Nerys found it difficult to expose her feelings about people, especially to the people themselves. Kira continued, while picking at the food on her plate absent-mindedly " And I did like it; it was different, in a lot of ways, and ... " "Nerys, you don't have to explain ... " "No, but I want to." Kira put a small ... vegetable, presumably, into her mouth, and rolled it over her tongue, savoring the taste before she went on. "And to tell you the truth, I had fantasized about you. Julian wasn't the only one, you know ... half the station has been in .... has been lusting after you since the Federation showed up. When the Dominion was in charge of the station, I was afraid I'd never see you again, that I'd never get a chance to ... well, and then there's Odo .... " "There is Odo ... " "Well, anyway ... I'm glad that we did, and I wouldn't trade that for anything. Your friendship means a great deal to me ... " "Me too." Jadzia said, matter-of-factly, and popped a morsel into her mouth, as she gazed first at Kira and then out at the babbling stream beside them. They sat, silently, finishing their meal, as the waterfall cascaded down, and the stream gurgled along. Soon, they had finished the meal, and Jadzia packed up the containers and refuse so that they would leave no mark on the idyllic scene. "Well, I suppose we could go back if you're ready ... " "That would require getting up, I assume .. " Kira teased, as she lay back on the blanket, enjoying the sensation of the sunlight beating down on her face, and the cool breeze through her hair. "I think I'd like to stay here forever." "Well, I wouldn't mind that ... though Benjamin would probably send out a search party eventually." Jadzia said, lying back down onto the blanket next to the Bajoran. "What would we do all day, here by ourselves? " she asked coyly. The smile that came over Nerys' face was her answer. "I can only guess ... " Kira said, turning onto her side to face Jadzia, and rubbing one bare foot with the other nervously. She smiled " So ... is this going to be a regular thing? " "Coming here? " "You know what I mean." Kira said, exasperated. "Us ... this." She reached out and took Jadzias' hand in her own. "I have to admit I was unsure before ... but now I can't even remember what I was worried about." "You were worried that it would ruin our friendship, probably. Maybe also that Worf, or Odo for that matter, would mind our new ... relationship." Jadzia said, matter-of-factly. "I don't know about Odo, but I told you before that Worf won't mind. He'll probably want to watch ... " she smiled " ... but we don't have to let him." "I should think not. Although ... well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it." Kira pulled Jadzias' hand to her lips and kissed it softly. "All I know is that I want you." She moved closer to Dax as she spoke, and their lips met . Jadzia returned the kiss, and as their wet lips, tasting of soy sauce, slid over each other, her hands moved out to pull Kira closer to her. The moans Kira produced as the kiss grew more intense only increased Daxs' desire. She pushed Nerys onto her back, and moved atop her, without breaking the kiss. Their tongues met and played between their lips as Jadzia's hands moved down Kiras' body, pausing to caress and squeeze every part of the Bajoran through her uniform. When Kira began pulling at Jadzias' uniform, her hands moved slowly, methodically, as if performing a crucial yet delicate task. By the time she had gotten to the trousers' fasteners they were moving much faster, moving with a purpose. She could hear Jadizas' breathing as she felt a soft wet tongue tracing the outline of her right ear. The shivers that sensation produced stopped her hands, but the other woman moved to complete the task for her. Jadzia rose, pulling the last of her clothing, her panties, down and off. She stood there, before Kira, naked and unashamed, and entirely without fear. Kira did not notice that her mouth hung open until Jadzia bent down to place a soft kiss on it. Jadzia pulled her up, and Kira smiled as her own uniform was unclasped and removed as skillfully as it had ever been. When Jadzia knelt down before Nerys to pull her underwear down, Kira closed her eyes, and rested her hands on the Trills' shoulders. They were both naked now, and Kira felt Daxs' cold hands clasping the fleshy globes of her behind, squeezing them, and pulling her slightly forward. Soon she felt a warm tongue tracing around her stomach. Her knees began to feel weak, and she feared that her legs would collapse. As if on cue, Jadzia pulled her down, so that they were both on their knees, facing each other. Their breasts grazed against each other as they kissed, then were smashed together as the kiss developed. Kiras' hands trembled as she ran them down the smooth skin of Jadzia's back, to firmly grasp the other woman and press their bodies even closer together, were that possible. Without a word, they laid down on their sides facing each other, and Jadiza pushed one leg between Kiras' thighs, her own thigh pressed against the Bajoran's womanhood. The kiss had not yet ended when Kira felt the leg replaced by an experienced hand. Jadzia pulled her mouth away from Kira long enough to whisper in Kiras' ear. " Tell me what you want me to do, Nerys " Nerys hesitated long enough for Dax to wonder if the woman knew what she wanted. "I want ... you to stop talking! " Kira shouted, as she broke Jadzia's grip on her hands and pushed Jadzia off of her. Quickly she moved atop the woman, and pinned her down. "That's more like it." "I'm sure ... " Jadzia now felt Kira's lips moving down to her neck, and she closed her eyes and waited for the exquisite assault to begin. Soon she felt teeth gently clasped on one nipple, and her back arched involuntarily as the tongue behind the teeth began flicking across the tip. Kira released the Trills' hands so that she could move further down, and Jadzia placed them on the woman's' head as she felt the tongue tracing down the inward curve of her stomach. Jadzia crossed her heels behind Kiras' back as the Bajoran passed her waist, the soft lips placing tiny kisses on the sensitive skin of her inner thighs. She pushed Kira's head into her instinctively. "Mmmmph." Kira said, and Jadzia immediately released her grasp on the woman. "Sorry, " Jadzia said, embarrassed. Kira only smiled as she resumed her attentions, her tongue tracing along Daxs' labia as one hand reached up to squeeze her breasts. The other was between her own legs, rubbing at the already moist clitoris. Soon she began to lick Jadzia, both of them moaning with each stroke of the hand or tongue. "You ... " Jadzia gasped " are really very good at ... that .... unghhh ... " Kira paused long enough to laugh. "And I'm not that experienced ... " She moved her hand from her own sopping womanhood to continue what her mouth had begun, as she slowly kissed her way back up Jadzias' quivering stomach. Her hand moved faster as she got to Jadzias' breasts, and as the Trills' fingers found Kiras' clit. Jadzia came just as Kira's lips found her open mouth, and clamped down upon it, their saliva mixing with Jadzias' juices, and only the weight of Nerys' body kept the spasms from rocking the Trills' body apart. They held on tightly to each other for a while, Kira gazing contentedly down at Jadzias' closed eyes, and the satiated expression on her face. "What are you thinking? " The eyes still did not open, but a squeeze from firm arms acknowledged the question. "I'm thinking .... that we waited way too long to do this." Kira moved off Jadzia, and lay beside her, one hand propping her head up, the other tracing lazy circles on Jadzias' stomach. " Well ... I guess we'll just have to make up for lost time." Jadzia chuckled to herself as she moved to take Kira in her arms again. After a long while, they rose and bathed in the cool water of the stream and the falls. Their playful splashes and giggles rebounded off the rocky cliff, and their wet skin glistened in the afternoon sun. Jadzia stepped out of the water and grabbed the blanket, so that she could begin drying herself. Kira watched as she dabbed the blanket down her body. "How different is it for you to have a female host, and be with a woman? After having been a man, I mean." "Well, " Jadzia began collecting her clothes as Kira took the blanket and began drying her own skin " The way I feel about sex really doesn't have anything to do with whether the host is a male or female. There are things to enjoy about both ... " She smiled at Kira. "Although I have to admit there are things that I'd like to do with you that I cant ... at least without that Risan vibrator." Jadzia saw the blush that spread across Kiras' chest as the Bajoran began pulling her own uniform on. "Well I guess we'll have to bring it along next time." When they were fully dressed, they took one last look around the idyllic grotto that would now be forever theirs, and beamed back to the runabout. --- The End
