Feedback: Yes! Oh God Yes!!
Author's Note: Most of the story's context was taken from a song.
Bet, you can't guess what song. :) Hey if you do guess it, let me
know. It's stupid, but I just had to write this.

Messhall. . .
Tom walked into the messhall. Seeing Chakotay sitting alone in a far
corner, Tom made his way over to him. Chakotay looked up from his meal.
"May I sit down, Commander?"
Chakotay smiled, "Sure Tom. What can I do for you?"
Returning the smile, "Just wanted someone to talk to."
"Sure. What about?" Tom smiled dreamily, lost in thought.
Sighing, "Aw, summer lovin'. Had myself a hell of a blast."
---
Engineering. . .
Oh, the day he had. He just had to tell someone about it. Harry walked
over to were B'Elanna was bent over rechecking the status of a few
minor repairs. Harry stood quietly next to her. He didn't say anything
until she asked, "How can I help you, Starfleet?"
Harry took a deep breath and let it out, "Hello, B'Ela. Are you
really busy right now?"
B'Elanna stood straight up and looked over at Harry. Seeing he had
something he wanted to talk about, "Nope. Just finished."
Harry smiled sweetly at his close friend, "Good. Could we talk?
Privately?"
Smiling, "Sure, Harry. How 'bout my office?" She indicated
with a sweep of her arm towards the aforementioned office.
"That'll be perfect," Harry said as he took the lead and
walked towards her office.
They reached her office and each took a seat. B'Elanna offered Harry
some coffee, but he turned it down. Shifting a bit, he sighed,
"Summer lovin'. It just happened so damn fast."
---
Messhall. . .
Chakotay listened intently as Tom continued, "I met a man, who was
crazy for me." Chakotay leaned forward, so Tom wouldn't have to
raise his voice.
---
Engineering. . .
Harry continued with his story, "Met a man, just as cute as can
be." B'Elanna was now very interested in what Harry was saying
and it showed on her face.
---
Messhall. . .
"Well, on the holodeck the summer days were drifting away into summer
nights. . . " Tom paused to see if he still had the Commander's
attention.
Chakotay, unable to hide his impatience at the sudden pause, "Tell me
more. Did you get very far?" Tom nodded and continued.
---
Engineering. . .
"Well, on the holodeck the summer days were drifting away into summer
nights. . . " Harry paused, making certain he hadn't lost
B'Elanna's interest.
B'Elanna growled, "Get on with it, Starfleet. Tell me more. Were
you at a bar?" With a grin, Harry shook his head and continued.
---
Messhall. . .
Tom told Chakotay they had been swimming in the beach of one of his
holoprograms, "He swam by me and all of a sudden got a cramp."
The First Officer raised an eyebrow, but didn't say a word as Tom got
further into his little adventure on the holodeck.
---
Engineering. . .
"Then he went by me and got my swim suit damp," Harry continued
as B'Elanna leaned back in her chair. She was happy Harry had finally
found someone, instead of continuing to pine after Libby.
---
Messhall. . .
Chakotay chuckled hearing Tom say, "I saved his life. He nearly
drowned." Tom paused a moment upon hearing the chuckle his First
Officer let loose, but brushed it aside.
---
Engineering. . .
"He was trying to show off by splashing around," Harry continued
unperturbed by B'Elanna's sudden bout of giggles. Rolling his eyes
at B'Elanna, "I knew with the warmth of the summer sun, something
had begun. And continued right up to the summer night. . . ," Harry
paused, happily reminising.
The suspense getting to her, "Tell me more," B'Elanna
prompted her friend. "Was it love at first sight?" Harry sighed
contentedly and nodded with vigor.
---
Messhall. . .
Earlier Neelix had come over with a bowl of leola root stew. Tom had
crinkled his nose in disgust, but had gladly taken the bowl. He gave
Neelix his thanks and waited until the eerily cheery Talaxian left, before
continuing on with his adventure. "I knew with the warmth of the
summer sun, something had begun. And continued right up to the summer
night."
Tom looked up from his bowl, expecting to see his commander guffaw at his
choice of words. All Chakotay did was smile politely. Getting anxious to
hear the rest, "Tell me more. Did he put up much of a fight?"
Giggling he shook his head, "Took him bowling in the arcade."
Chakotay just smiled, rolling his eyes.
---
Engineering. . .
"So what'd ya'll do?" B'Elanna asked.
"We went strolling and drank some lemonade."
---
Messhall. . .
"We made out under the dock," Tom said eyeing Chakotay. He
raised an eyebrow. "Oh really?"
Tom nodded and continued.
---
Engineering. . .
B'Elanna gave him a funny look. "That was it?"
Shrugging his shoulders, "Hey, we did stay out til 10
o'clock."
"Starfleet, for you that was a big step," B'Elanna said with
a grin.
Harry sighed. "This little summer fling, didn't mean a thing. But
oh the summer night," he replied dreamily.
---
Messhall. . .
"Ummm, Tom?" Tom looked up from his plate, but kept quiet.
Impatient. "Well? Tell me more. Does he know that you brag?"
"No." Looking up smiling, "This little summer fling,
didn't mean a thing. But oh the summer night."
---
Engineering. . .
"Come on, Starfleet. Tell me more. Cause this is getting to be a real
drag," B'Elanna said irritabily.
Blushing, "He got friendly and starting holding my hand."
---
Messhall. . .
Wriggling his eyebrows. "Well, he got friendly, down in the
sand."
At this Chakotay's ears perked up.
---
Engineering. . .
Smiling happily. "He was so sweet, being all tenderly."
"Aw," was all that B'Elanna said.
---
Messhall. . .
"Really?" The stocky First Officer replied.
Nodding. "Oh he was real good, ya know what I mean?"
"Uh huh."
"Hey, the summer heat, it sure as hell can't beat the summer
night."
---
Engineering. . .
Harry wiggled in his seat a bit. "The summer heat, it sure as hell
can't beat the summer night."
Raising an eyebrow. "Aw. So tell me, how many replicator rations did
he spend?"
Shrugging shoulders.
---
Messhall. . .
"Tell me, could you lend me this little program for free?"
Shrugging shoulders.
---
Engineering. . .
Wondering where the point was. "Harry, is there a point to any of
this?"
Heavily sighing. "Yes. It got cold there at night and that's were
it ends."
Growling low in her throat, "There had better be more to this,
Harry."
---
Messhall. . .
Just as frustrated. "Tom, what exactly happened?"
"He got a little spooked for some reason, so I told him, we'd
still be friends."
"You know, that made absolutely no sense."
---
Engineering. . .
"Harry, this whole situation makes absolutely no sense
whatsoever."
By this point, Harry wasn't paying attention to B'Elanna. Then
we made our true love flow, he silently thought to himself.
---
Messhall. . .
Sensing he was being ignored, Chakotay left the table with his tray. He
walked out of the messhall wondering exactly what that whole discussion
was about.
Wonder what he's doing now, Tom mused to himself. Muttering
softly to himself, "Summer dreams ripped at the seams. But oh those
summer nights."
---
Engineering. . .
Sensing she was being ignored, B'Elanna snarled and left her office.
Not noticing her absence, Harry muttered to himself, "Summer dreams
ripped at the seams. But oh those summer nights."
