NOW AND THEN

He's pacing the room, tie loosened, restless. There's war going on and he's reigning himself in. Always the consummate professional.

I smile to myself. I've seen my consummate professional lose that professional demeanor when we consummate our feelings.

Those stern brown eyes melt like chocolate. That perpetual frown dissolves into a smile of wonder. A voice that scolds and argues, makes vows of love.

Those big hands of his could break my neck but never break my heart. That warrior's body protects me from the world.

He looks across the room. A flicker of a smile. We know everything will be all right.
