Title: Calling on God Author/pseudonym: Snarf E-mail address: zyren@wam.umd.edu Rating: R Pairings: J/B, but it's pre-slash Status: New, incomplete Date: Archive: if you want to Archive Author: same Archive email address: same Series/sequel: 0/? Other Website: none, yet Disclaimer: All Sentinel characters belong to Pet Fly, UPN, etc. All Fushigi Yuugi characters belong to Yu Watase, Movic, and anyone else I inadvertantly left out. They are *not mine*! So please don't sue! Okay, okay, yes, I am doing another Sentinal crossover with a Japanimation series. However, this one is *much* more serious than Ranma. If you actually happen to have seen FY, I'm basically using the same characters (with the exception of one :)) and situations, just changing the location from Ancient China to Modern Japan. WARNING: Discussion of a rape. CALLING ON GOD Prologue "Ellison, Sandburg, get in here!" was the greeting Jim and Blair got from Simon the minute they walked into the department. They looked at each other, shrugged, then walked into Simon's office. "What's this all about, sir?" Jim asked, closing the door behind him. "The Tokyo Police Department just called again." Simon sat in his chair, halfway glareing at them. "They want you for another mission." Jim thought of the last mission they had him go on. "Not another panty thief?" he asked, hopefully. Simon shook his head. "The same one?" Blair asked. "No!" Simon took out a pile of recent faxes. "They want you after this guy." He gave them a picture of a brooding, blonde man. "Who is he?" Jim asked, stareing hard at the picture. Even in a picture, the man seemed to give an aura of evil. "His name is Nakago Furusawa," Simon leaned back in his chair. "He's pretty dangerous, from what I've been told. The Tokyo Police Department say he's very interested in a certain teenage girl." Simon handed them the next picture, one of a young, blonde girl. "Her name is Yui Hongo." Jim stared at the girl, scrutinizing her picture, as if it were a piece of his memory, long surpressed. As he stared at her, Blair asked, "Do you know her from somewhere?" Jim shook his head, not knowing why she seemed so familiar to him. "Any relation to this Nakago fellow?" Simon shrugged. "We don't know. The Tokyo police say he says he's her father." "Well, that's understandable," Blair said. "How many blonde Japanese are there?" "True," Simon continued, "but Nakago apparantly raped her, about a couple of years ago. Rage coursed through Jim's body, as if the attack had been on one of his own family . /Why?/ he asked himself. /I've never met this girl in my entire life! And I've never been to Japan before, except for a few months ago./ Blair noticed the change in Jim, at how his Sentinel glared at Nakago with obvious hatred. Blair could see no reasoning in that. /Sure, it's a terrible thing to do, but he looks like it's personal!/ "Have they ever caught him?" "No," Simon answered. "He headed out for China a couple of weeks after the incident happened. However, lately, they've been getting reports that he's back in town, and they want Miss Hongo protected." "So, why pick Jim?" Blair asked. "I mean, they've got to have other people who can handle him, right?" "This guy's special, somehow." Simon pursed his lips, his fingertips lightly touching each other. "They won't, or can't, tell me much about him, except you're the perfect guy to go after him." "Okay," Jim said. He wasn't sure about this, but he'd go along. He needed to know why he felt such a strong connection for this young woman. "Oh, one more thing," Simon called after them, before they left his office. "They said something about a fish. Would you care to explain?" Blair and Jim shared a smile at Simon's confusion. "You don't even want to know," Blair said. end of prologue
