Due to glitches that happen time to time during a submision or an upgrade to the site, the archive asks that when you post a story to the site you send an email copy to makebelievearchive@gmail.com so we can have a back up copy in case a bad upload slips through. or a glitch arises later on. Thank you for your assistance

Submission Rules

  1. All submissions SHOULD be accompanied by a complete disclaimer.

    Disclaimer: All publicly recognizable characters, settings, etc. are the property of their respective owners. The original characters and plot are the property of the author.  The author is in no way associated with the owners, creators, or producers of any media franchise.  No copyright infringement is intended.
  2. Stories must be submitted to the proper category. Please select a fandom (or enter xover if the story is multiple fandom and select the correct xover category from the available list). Second select the gen, hetero or slash cat. Finally, select the separate fandoms so the story can be filed under each appropriate fandom.  The submission form allows you to choose multiple categories for your story.   So please do NOT add your story multiple times!
  3. Titles and summaries should be kid friendly.  
  4. "Please read", "Untitled", etc. don't make for wonderful titles or summaries, but can be used in a pinch.
  5. A number of authors have requested that fans refrain from writing fan fiction based on their work.  Posting these fandoms could result in C&Ds. 
  6. Actor/actress stories are permitted, but Be sure to mark these clearly and use strong disclaimers advising you are using the stage persona not the actual person.
  7. Correct grammar and spelling are expected of all stories submitted to this site.  Please use your check programs. A lot of folks give poorly written stories a pass.
  8. All stories must be rated correctly and have the appropriate warnings.  All adult rated stories are expected to have warnings.  After all, they wouldn't have that rating if there wasn't something to be warned about!  The site administrators recognize that there is an audience for these stories, but please respect those who do not wish to read them by labeling them appropriately. 
  9. Stories with multiple chapters should be archived as such and NEVER as separate stories.  Upload the first chapter of your story, then go to Manage Stories in your account to add additional chapters. If you have trouble with this, please contact the site administrator or ask a friend to help you.
  10. As much as possible, spoiler warnings are expected on all stories. For categories with serialized content, such as series of books or television series, spoilers are mandatory for the current season and/or most recent part. An appropriate spoiler warning to place in your summary would be: Spoilers for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

The site administrators reserve the right to modify these rules as needed.

Authors, you don't have to belong to one of the many lists linked to the site to join our family. The MB archive invites you to expand your reader base by opening your own page with us. We're auto-load so you can add/edit your stories at any time. If you prefer, direct submissions of any fandom/genre can be sent to the "archvist in residence" at MakeBelieve Archive

Round Robins, wrens and Tree Fics The site offers many opportunities to play in the creation of a tag fic. simply click "respond tothe robin" and write your section. Most of these can be found under the author name "Round Robin Authors" but others can be found by spotting the little robin in the story blurb title

Readers: You play a vital part in the growth of the archive. Your words keep the authors writing so take a second to let them know you read their work. Be aware, you must be logged into the site to send a review. This is to offset any spammers from dropping their adverts into the reviews section

Betas you can register your services on site by going to Your Account page and clicking the box to beta. While your there you can also update your bio info at any time

The News section includes weekly blurbs for "New Fandoms & Characters", "New Challenges", "New MLs" and the weekly "Fandom Call" challenge, as well as a daily listing of fandoms with new stories and frequent story challenges

In addition the Challenges are permanently posted to our Challenge Page From here, your stories can be linked directly to the challenge response. Readers can get the responses by clicking the challenge of their choice.
