Summary:

In the early 1930s, the United States is gripped in the start of a Great Depression.  Add to this one of the worst continuing natural disasters and you set the tone for a desolate time in history.

Traveling among the small towns on the fringe of this midwestern society is a small carnival with its own freak show.  A mixture of ex-cons, runaways, and washed up circus castoffs, there seems to be nothing different about them than a hundred others.  Scratch the surface, however, and you will find these are no ordinary freaks.  Theirs is a history rich in dark magic and ancient curses.
