Can't find my original post, but here's me again ... I'm 45 years
old, married to a guy who beta-reads my slash stories, have four
children -- oldest daughter is in the Air Force, #2 daughter is
in high school (plans to be a forest ranger), 9 year old boy/girl
twins (he wants to be a ballet dancer and she wants to be a Spice
Girl). <g> We own a multimedia computer business. My hobbies
(other than reading/writing slash) are ... genealogy, gardening,
and co-editing a zine in the Robin of Sherwood fandom. I have a
Masters degree in history from Samford U. in Birmingham, AL
(class of '76).

Other than "our boys", I also like TS & Pros. My put me onto
this list, otherwise I'm fairly new to net-fandom. I'm the web-
mistress of our gen and slash archives, and keeper of the Crotch
Page. <g>

>Slash found me. It found me, chased me around the room, knocked me
>down, sat on me, and forced me to read it. No lie.

Slash found me too. Back before the Net, I forget what year it was but I
think Coolidge was President ... anyway, I was participating in a letterzine
(pre-e-mail mode of communication among fans that involved writing Actual
Letters) and the subject of slash came up. But not very descriptively. One
member spontaneously combusted on the subject with no explanation of what it
was. Just a paragraph about perverts and their "slash stories". The next
month, another member whom I really liked admitted that she wrote these
dreaded "slash stories" and found it "liberating". Since I liked her
and I'm
in favor of The Right to Write, I defended her in the next issue -- not
really knowing what I was defending, although I had an idea. But if she
wanted to write "slash stories", by golly it was OK with me. I also wrote to
her privately, letting her know that while *I* wasn't keen on Freddy Kruger
and Jason, if she wanted to write about people slashing each other to bits,
she had my full support and I didn't think she was a pervert. Bless her
heart, she sent me a K/S zine, with a full color Gayle F. cover. I took one
look at that Vulcan cock and said "Ayyyyy, yeah." The first slash story I
read was Kirk/Spock/McCoy (and I'm still partial to threesomes). Unlike many
fans, the romance, the "relationship" and all that, is secondary to me. What
I really like is the sexual adventure, the opportunity to explore strange
new worlds and conquer them, taking many captives for my harem.
S/H was the first slash fandom I found on the Net, and I still think of it
as my "first time", because my first slash story was S/H. The first one I
actually committed to paper, that is. I don't watch enough TV to get into
many of the popular fandoms -- so many shows I've never seen. I love period
fiction, so I'm more like to slash characters from movies and novels.
I still haven't gotten over my initial conception of slash. When I start a
new story, I always picture myself holding a chain saw.
