Subject: Introduction

Having lurked for several days now, I thought I should introduce
myself, although I think I already know quite a few of you (hi
all). My name is Barbara. I'm 48 and work for the
U.S. Department of State, currently stationed in Egypt.

I've been a S&H fan since the show was originally on. I
discovered S/H fanfic thanks to Shore Leave and Nightlight (bet
you didn't know that, Martha). I haven't written any fanfic
myself, but have done a few vids (Somewhere in the Night,
Everything I Do) under the name Tolbran. I have a new one which
will be debuting at ZCon (I Remember L.A.) and would welcome
comments when you all get back, since I can't make it.

I guess I can't put it off any longer, so here goes.

Hi! My name is Barbara. I work for the State Department and am
living in Cairo, Egypt with T.C. (a 12 lb brown tiger named
after Kirk - but that's another story).

I was in college when S&H first came on and was an instant fan.
Fandom came a few years later, first through Trek, then Pros,
then S/H, and my recollection is that Nightlight may have been
the first S/H zine I read. In fact, I have a vague memory of
getting a copy from someone at Shore Leave who had accidentally
bought two. Then I was lucky enough to stumble across the S&H
group in the Baltimore/Washington and the rest is history - which
is appropriate since I'm a historian by training (I look at my
current job as 20 years field research, then I'll retire and go
back to teaching - which is getting closer and closer).

Barbara
