ShadowIRC can be downloaded from popular Mac shareware web sites such as:

> Step 1: Setup
We'll assume that you've downloaded ShadowIRC and are currently connected to the internet, either directly or with a modem. Now we'll open the ShadowIRC program and put in all our settings:
  1. Open ShadowIRC by double-clicking on the icon
  2. Go to the FILE menu and select PREFERENCES
  3. Fill in the boxes this way:
    • Connection Name: SQUIDGE
    • Nickname: whatever-you-want-to-be-called
    • Username: same as nickname
    • Realname: same as nickname
    • Server Name: squidge.org
    • Port: 6667
  4. Click on the DONE button

> Step 2: Connecting
Great, we've made it past step 1 and nobody got hurt. So now we're actually going to connect to the Dalnet network and join the world of IRC chatrooms! Okay, brace yourself, this is going to be simple, I promise! Is your tray table stowed and is your seat in it's full and upright position? Good, here we go...
  1. Go to the FILE menu and select OPEN CONNECTION
  2. A pullout menu will appear, select SQUIDGE from this list
  3. Shadow will attempt to connect to the squidge.org IRC server. You'll see lots of text go by in your console window, don't worry about it.
  4. Once Shadow is finished connecting, type in the following command in the INPUTLINE window: /join #thead'soffice
  5. A window will pop up, this is the chat window for #thead'soffice
  6. Anything you type in the INPUTLINE window will appear in the chatroom window. The first thing you should do is say 'hello' to everyone

Congratulations! You've now joined the world of IRC chatters! Welcome to the family.
