The Ensign however and despite what others might say, is more than just a pretty face
or a useless waste of space.
He has come back from the dead ("Emanations"), died and been replaced by his duplicate ("Deadlock") and risked everything to save both his ship and its crew ("The Killing Game" and "Timeless"). He has also made friends with those who may have otherwise remained friendless, isolated and alone (Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres in "Caretaker" and Seven of Nine in "Revulsion"), often doing so against the advice of his superior officers. He has even gone out of his way to make the Captain feel a part of the Voyager 'family' ("The Cloud") despite the restrictions imposed by both rank protocol and tradition. But you needn't take our word for it. Try watching a few of the episodes listed below, rated by number of rank pips, and you too just might come to see what we mean. |
