Don't stray
Don't ever go away
I should be much too smart for this
You know it gets the better
Of me sometimes
"Abs, what are you thinking? You have to talk to Gibbs about this. You need to turn him in." McGee tried as they sat in her lab the day after the incident.
"Yesterday I would have agreed with you. And I don't know what I am going to do. But he saved my life last night and got hurt himself in the process." She argued. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"But it was probably his fault that you were in danger in the first place. This is not like you, Abs."
"You either. Since when do you get to comment on my relationships?" She snapped.
"Abs, I am trying to help you." McGee
"Well, don't." She said simply, walking away from him.
"Abby, what's wrong?" Ari asked when Abby walked into her apartment, slamming the door behind her.
"Nothing." She said unconvincingly.
"I believe that." He said laughing. He took the coat off her shoulders and kissed her neck as he backed away to hang it on the coat-rack.
"Really, I'm over it already."
"Tell me, what it is and maybe I can help."
"It's just a guy I work with. We used to go out, and now must just be jealous to hear I'm dating someone else." She lied.
"That's a shame. He shouldn't be like that if your relationship didn't work out."
"Yeah. Anyway, I don't want to keep talking about it. It's over."
And there's no cure
And no way to be sure
Why everything's turned inside out
Instilling so much doubt
"Either tell me you have something, otherwise the brilliant reason you're standing at my desk not speaking." Gibbs said when McGee continued to stand there at his desk silent.
"Boss, I need to talk to you about something." McGee said finally.
"Speak."
"I can't. Not here." He said, pleading with his tone.
"Elevator, now." Gibbs said simply when he saw McGee's face.
"Okay."
"The Probie's in trouble."
"What?" Kate asked when he spoke up.
"Gibbs is taking him to his conference room slash torture chamber." Tony teased as the doors closed.
"Torture chamber? That's a little dramatic, don't you think?"
"Would you like to be locked in a dark room that is not being surveiled, and no one can hear you scream." Tony said.
"What is so damn important that instead of searching for that bastard, I'm here?" Gibbs asked after he had stopped the elevator between floors.
"It's actually about the terrorist that shot you and Gerald." McGee blurted out before he could change his mind on a decision he was already beating himself up over.
"Well…?"
"I shouldn't be telling you this and I swore to Abby that I wouldn't." He said suddenly feeling really bad. He was about to betray Abby's trust.
"McGee, tell me."
"Abby's been dating him. His name's Ari Haswari." McGee said.
"What?"
"She didn't know until she saw the picture. And she was about to turn him in to you but then something happened at her apartment and he saved her life." He said all at once.
"He's putting her life in danger now?!" Gibbs asked pissed off. He hated not knowing things as important as he was being told.
"I don't think he'd hurt her and he was protecting her. But he is a terrorist." McGee said, concerned for Abby. "I think she's just gotten in over her head."
When you and I collide
I fall into an ocean of you
Pull me out in time
Don't let me drown
Let me down
"Where the hell is Abby?" Gibbs asked when he found McGee in her lab.
"She and Kate went to lunch. Wont be gone very long.
"So, are you going to tell me what's going on?" Kate asked after enough silence between the friends.
"Nothing. I'm fine." Abby said after another bite of food.
"Come on now, you know that's not going to work on me." Kate said watching her best-friend's face.
"I'll spill if you do." Abby countered.
"You first." Kate said before Abby could.
"I hate you." Abby said and they both laughed. "Fine. I'm having a little trouble with the men in my life."
"Elaborate."
"McGee."
"I thought it was over between you guys." Kate said, confused.
"It was. It is. But I'm dating someone else now." She added vaguely.
"Anyone I know?"
"No."
"How long's this been going on?"
"About a month and a half. So McGee and I are just having a little trouble with our friendship right now. That's all that's bothering me." Abby lied. "Your turn."
"I'm having guy trouble as well. Isn't it funny that most of our stress stems from men?"
"Hilarious. Continue." Abby prompted.
"Tony's giving me hell about the terrorist guy that broke into NCIS." Kate started.
"What does that have to do with you?"
"He says that I'm in love with him. Stockholm's syndrome." Kate tried. "Just because I couldn't stab him."
"Wait, what?" Abby asked, a little shocked.
"Yeah, he gave me a chance to stab him with a scalpel knowing I wouldn't be able to. Gave him the upper hand and he got under my skin. I'll admit that."
"So he tried to seduce you?" Abby asked.
"Yes."
"That bastard." She said looking down at the table.
"It's not that shocking. I'm sure he was just doing it to make sure I didn't hurt him when given the chance." Kate tried.
"I'll kill him." Abby swore, still talking to herself about Ari.
"Abs, are you okay? You're taking this a little hard?"
My head is battling with my heart
My logic has been torn apart
And now
It all turns sour
