I saw some scans of PoTC doujin (i.e. fan-created manga) and decided to draw my own. LOL. 1am + tea + krispy kreme donut + muse + Sting = deadly combination. Since I basically finished at 5am and then woke up to do the last 3 pages, it's incredibly random. :P

Final Notes
well. that was fun! but tiring. :O doing the little panel outlines, especially. -__- Also, I cannot draw a straight line to save my life, even with a ruler, so around the 2nd or 3rd page I decided... fk it, freehand. XD Sorry about the proportions, it was getting pretty late. Also, yes, James gets noticeably more love. Sorry, Jack. *hugs*

Lyrics from Sting: 'Soul Cages'. If anyone's interested - the written outline:

[cover]

[p1]

-black-
-white scribbly feathers-

"These are the soul cages"

[p2]

-frame 1: desk. James is seated before a desk stacked with papers, a small globe and a cup of tea, a curled up cat. There is a Lieutenant before him, holding other dispatches. Behind him is a wide balcony, and the harbor-

"Commodore?"

-frame 2: the door. A transparent Jack Sparrow is standing there, touching the frame, one finger to his lips.-

=Lately, I've been seeing Sparrow in everything.=

[p3]

-frame 1: the cat looks up-

[p5]

-frame 1: Beckett's office – clean desk, one sheet of paper-

"Ah, Commodore. So good of you to come."

-frame 2: James smirks-

-frame 3: James looks away-

"What now?"

-frame 4: Fingers push the papers forward-

"Please make sure your next patrol passes by these coordinates."

-frame 5: Widened eyes-

[p6]

-frame 1: zoned out – Beckett with and arched eyebrow. Sparrow pulling a face behind him. A hawk is on Beckett's shoulder-

"What?"

-frame 2: wry smile-

"Nothing."

=It's guilt.=

-frame 3: looking at the paper in the corridor-

=I think.=

[p7]

-frame 1: Several marines, clustered around a bench-

"What's going on here?"

-frame 2: nervous marine-

"Oh, sir! Bobby here bought a pack of cards off one of the travelling gypsies, sir."

"Fortune-telling cards!"

"Cards?"

[p9]

-beach. Nothing.-

-beach. Sparrow, with a grin, and a salute.-

-he begins to walk away-

"Sparrow. Sparrow, wait."

[p10]
-James against a wall. Shirt open. Sparrow's body blocking the view-

"Sparrow. Sparrow, wait."

-Sparrow's grin, narrowed eyes-

"Prefer it when ye call me Cap'n, Jamie."

-bared teeth, in a laugh-

"Is that a fetish I hear, Jack?"

-Chin pulled down-

"'Jack' is good, too."

-kiss, against the wall-

[p11]

"Captain. Captain Jack Sparrow."

-Jack stops-

-Jack turns around-

-James facing Jack-

"Jack. I'm so sorry."

[p12]

-Jack blowing a kiss-

I made a wager with the King of the Ninth World
I bet my soul with the King of the Ninth World
For a bonnie black ship that'd dance across the waves
I lost my wager with the King of the Ninth World
Now old Jack will spend the rest of forever
In a cage like his
For he has no need to whistle
When a caged bird sings
But you
Old Jack, he'd sing for you
One last time
One last time, Jamie
Old time's sake

-James, frowning-

"Jack, I don't understand. Jack. How can I help you?"

[p13]

-Jack smiles-

One last farewell, before the sun sets

-Lips move-
I
Loved
You

-Jack waves-

-he fades away-

-empty beach-

[p14]

-James standing-

-James bends down-

-A card: The Hanged Man, a string of beads-

-A corner of the card, a wet drop-

=It's raining=

-Cloudless sky-

[p15]

-Jack, hands on hips, looking to the side. Wings.-

These are the souls of broken factories
The subject slaves of the broken crown
The dead accounting of old guilty promises
These are the souls of the broken town

These are the soul cages
