The Heirs of Gondor
aka Boromir's Song to Aragorn
A Filk to the tune of Don Henley's Boys of Summer
by The Bardess

N azgul on the road
Led by the dread King-Witch.
So you're Isildur's Heir?
Well, isn't that a bitch.
Sauron's Ring—a Fellowship
Nine Walkers all alone.
I speak for all of Gondor
Even though it's your Throne

Oh Aragorn,
You may be Arathorn's son,
You're a mere ranger now
Allied to Elrond.
And I can tell you
The Reign of Stewards has been strong
now that the Kings of Gondor are gone.

I never will forget my Knights
The White City's the stuff of dreams,
Remember how the banners flew,
Think of how the City screams.
Now I don't understand what happened to Sauron
But I wanna get that Ring back
I gonna thrash that lidless moron

Now Aragorn,
You may be Arathorn's son
I see you side with Elrond
because you want Arwen
and I can tell you my love for
war may still be strong
After Sauron of Mordor is gone.

Out on the snow one day
I saw wee Frodo nearly lose that cursed Ring.
A little voice inside my head said
"Pick it up—it's just a little thing."
I though I knew what strength was,
What did I know?
This Ring is Sauron's Evil,
I should just let it go but...

I can see us,
with Narsil shining in the sun,
We'll get our Heirlooms back—Barahir's ring, maybe
and I can tell you, Denethor'll can't last too long,
Unless the threat from Mordor is gone

I can see now
My rightful King you may yet be
Let's use the Ring on Sauron
Why can't I make you see?
Can you tell me Minas Tirith will yet live on
If ever the Heirs of Gondor are gone.

End
