Chalcedony Cross Index & Recent Updates Links & Miscellany

Welcome!

This is where Chalcedony Cross keeps her slash fan fiction and other goodies of questionable virtue.  Topics fictionally addressed here include (but are not limited to) homosexuality, incest, rape, murder, bondage, religion, sacrifice, love and hate and the shades in between.  If you aren't comfortable reading about those subjects, or are concerned that I might not handle them with the respect or finesse you feel they deserve, now would be a good time to find somewhere else to go.

If you have any questions or comments, you can send them to me using this lovely web-form.

Recent site updates are as follows ...

Oh, look, a REAL update!

I'm finally getting around to adding my winning (yay!) entry from "Powers of Precog: The Hypothetical Episode Contest" over on the sammessiah LiveJournal community! It's titled "Before the Devil Even Knows", you can find it here, and I wrote it... two months ago now? I think. So much for keeping up with things with my new, shiny, redesigned site. Still got the same half-assed person contributing to it, unfortunately.

Oh, and also, if you click on that story link, you will find two illustrations popped in there, one by Creepylicious (who created it and let me archive it out of the pure kindness of her heart) and one by Dreamlittleyo (who created it because she had no choice ::evil laughter!:: a winner am I and an illustration is what I won!).

I will have some more truly awesome news for you in the next day or two, but I need to give the person responsible for that pure and true awesomeness a chance to catch up with my enthusiasm. ::is secretive:: So be on the lookout for that.

and one more time ::facepalm::

Someone, please, stop me, before I redesign again!

It's a pathology, I swear it is.

But anyway, the website should be a bit more legible now.  Once I realized it was giving me eyestrain, and that just from skimming things, it was time to do something about it.  You know, months ago now.  Yeah.

Also, the website is the Crossroads - even if I named it that before Supernatural started airing - so I might as well own it, so to speak.  In that way that doesn't involve any ownership whatsoever.  Or scary lawyers.

::heh:: and again ...

See, the dangerous thing about surfing through website templates other, more competent people have created, is the possibility of contracting the dreaded "Hell, I Could Do That" Syndrome; symptoms of HICDTS include sleeplessness, eyestrain, tension headache, shouting of vulgarities at blameless inanimate objects, and a comically vast overevaluation of one's own abilities.

The tools and templates I used most in the creation of this newest, kinda-sorta coded by me website design can be found on the links page.  I also did a lot of Google searches for bits of relevant code, but I don't remember which specific sites I ended up on.  My sincere apologies to anyone I've inadvertently failed to credit.  I'm not trying to trick anyone into believing that I did this alone or have any real knowledge of CSS.  All I've managed is to adapt useful code and design from existing sources.

Super special thanks to Amikara, Ladysunflow and the many folks who sent test messages and comments, for helping me get this latest incarnation of the site working on Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera.  It still looks shiniest to me when viewed with Safari on my Mac, but I seem to be the only person in the world who is annoyed by both Firefox and Internet Explorer.  My opinion can hardly be trusted.  ::wink::

yep, i redesigned the site again ...

Isn't it shiny?

I wish I could say I designed it but, alas, no.  I can only take credit for tweaking it a little.  I did that tweaking without having any real knowledge of how CSS works, just pure trial and error (and a lot of help from strategic google searches), so if anything goes kerplowie, it's almost certainly my fault.  It was mostly "hey, let's see what happens when we change this number ... ew, ok, not that one ... what about this one ..."

The whining about CSS out of the way, though, I have to admit, it is beyond awesome being able to change my mind about some piddly thing (what color to make the links, or whether or not to justify the margins), make that change on one file and have every other page follow suit automatically.  Just ... awesome incarnate.  You have no idea.

Anyway, there's a link at the bottom of the page to the actual creator of the template, and more of their work.

A great big thank you to PLNunn, Dreamlittleyo and Becca Ming for permission to use their art in three of the six random headers.
