The BLTS Archive - How Do I Live? by Omega (alisasheldon@hotmail.com) --- Disclaimer: Paramount owns Trek. LeAnn Rimes owns the song. I'm just borrowing the toys for a little while. I promise to bring them back. This has implied m/m. Don't read it if it ain't your cuppa coffee. Feedback is desperately craved. Flames will be ignored. BTW--this is set in a nightmare. Nightmares tend to ignore basic facts like the fact that androids can't be hurt, but I'm using that as a theme. Think of this as an h/c music vid. --- The scene is set in Geordi's quarters. Geordi is beneath the covers on his bed. He is shirtless and his VISOR is off. Data, also shirtless sleeps beside him. Close up on Geordi's face. He tosses and turns in his sleep as if he's having a nightmare. Cut to his nightmare. He and Data are working in Engineering during a battle, both trying to hold the ship together. The console beneath Data explodes and Data is thrown against the warp core. He crumples to the floor, his face charred and smoking. Geordi stops what he is doing and catches his friend. He lays him on the ground and begins to sing. //How do I get through one night without you? If I had to live without you, what kind of life would that be?// Geordi pulls Data closer, tears streaming from his face and under his VISOR. He gently rocks Data. //Oh I, I need you in my arms, need you to hold. You're my world, my heart, my soul.// The ship keeps shaking and Picard is heard faintly in the background, ordering Geordi to go back to his post. Geordi ignores him and the battle in progress. Cut back to Geordi's quarters. Data is woken up by Geordi's thrashing and listens while he continues to sing. //If you ever leave, well baby you would take away everything good in my life. And tell me now: how do I live without you? I want to know. How do I breathe without you if you ever go? How do I ever, ever survive? How do I, how do I, oh how do I live?// Data gently envelopes Geordi in his embrace, being careful not to wake him. Back to the nightmare. Data has been taken to Sickbay and is laying comatose on a biobed. Geordi sits by his side, holding his hand. Picard, Riker, Crusher, Guinan, and Worf stand in the background, listening while Geordi sings. //Without you, there'd be no sun in my sky. There would be no love in my life. There'd be no world left for me. And I, well baby I don't know what I would do. I'd be lost if I lost you.// More tears stream from Geordi's face. Cut to his quarters. Tears trickle down Data's face while he listens to the song. He bends down and tenderly kisses Geordi's cheek. Back to Sickbay. Geordi tenderly strokes Data's hair. //If you ever leave, baby you would take away everything real in my life. And tell me now: how do I live without you? I want to know. How do I breathe without you, if you ever go? How do I ever, ever survive? How do I, how do I, oh how do I live?// Picard places his hand on Geordi's shoulder and tries to turn him away. Geordi jerks away and continues singing, his voice getting louder. //Please tell me, baby. How do I go on?// He stands up, anguish written all over his face. //If you ever leave, baby you would take away everything, need you with me, baby 'cause you know that you're everything good in my life. And tell me now: how do I live without you? I want to know. How do I breathe without you if you ever go? How do I ever, ever survive? How do I, how do I, oh how do I live?// He sits down by Data's side and grips his hand tightly. //How do I live without you? How do I live without you, baby?// Data leans down and whispers, "You do not have to." Geordi wakes up with a start. He sees Data and smiles for the first time. Data bends his head and they passionately kiss. --- The End
