Geordi said nothing all the way down to the lower decks. He didn't
have to.

Too soon they arrived. Data turned his back to him, trusting that he
would know what to do.

He did know what to do. It was the only thing he could. As the
off-switch receded into Data's body, Geordi couldn't help but smile.
It would be alright now. He would find another way. Leaning down just
slightly, he finally spoke:

"It wouldn't have made you human. You already are."

Data would resent him, if they survived.

But that was OK.
